MTV VMA 2013 Fashion

MTV's 2013 Video Music Awards was one that set everyone and twitter feeds ablaze with the scandalous, the out-right weird, and the WTF moments that graced all our media-induced minds.

But on a different spectrum irrelevant to music, us fashion-enthusiasts seemed more intrigued by the star's fashion choices. So check out our (sometimes) funny commentary below and see what KAii's got to say about the red carpet ensambles.

Okay...I think we've seen enough of Miley Cyrus' antics for one night. She rocked out with her tongue out on the red carpet in vintage Dolce & Gabbana, and despite the beautiful jeweled embellishments, the outfit appeared trashy rather than classy due to the lewd acts of Miley that night. Quoting JayZ, "SomewhereinAmerica, Miley Cyrus is still twerkin", and girl, we got to say that it ain't werkin'. Needless to say, we don't think it was the D&B's best idea to dress this wild and free singer in their clothes. Nonetheless, we can't deny that Miley's got the body to rock it anyway. Perhaps if her hair was styled differently, we wouldn't be complaining. One word to sum up Miley Cyrus at the VMAs: RATCHET.

Allison Williams looked classy in this white Valentino dress taken from the Fall 2013 RTW (Ready to Wear) runway line minus the bib collar. Paired beautifully and simply with black pumps, she brought some class to the red carpet.

Canadian super model Coco Rocha looked biker chic in a Fausto Puglisi Jacket that sparkled with runway glam with a very natural smokey eye makeup that accentuated her model-off-duty-look ten fold! Three words to sum up her chic ensemble: Trust in black.

They're French, they're the mega stars of EDM, and they've always got their suit and tie on with their stunningly fitted suits. Daft Punk graced the red carpet with their robotic presence in their usual suited outfits, showing that they work it better, harder, faster, and stronger than any other attendee.

Upon looking at this dress, despite its revealing lining (or the lack of), we couldn't help but be entranced by the magnificent and deliberately placed folds that swipes across from one side of the sheer dress. Then learning that Erin Wasson was in a Alexandre Vauthier Couture piece, we weren't surprised. If you haven't seen our post on Alexandre Vauthier Couture in our Fall 2013 Couture Runway Report (here), then you haven't seen anything yet.

Jennifer Hudson looked amazing in this houndstooth and leather outfit from Christian Dior. The Weight Watchers spokeswoman was styled beautifully with gunmetal/silver choker necklace, ring, and armparty. She looked stunning, slim, and downright sexy. She exemplifies confident sexiness and we're truly glad to see how beautifully she's blossomed. Keep it up, Jennifer!

Joan Smalls looked stunning in this white, black, and gold outfit from Viktor & Rolf's Fall 2013 RTW line. She paired the all-white clothes with some killer gladiator sandals that are to die for! We loved the simplicity of the outfit and absolutely adored the edgy vibe the gladiator heels add to it. We give Joan Smalls an A+.

The DJ and songwriting twintastic duo, Nervo, arrived to the VMAs in gorgeous custom gowns by a fresh new designer named Nathaniel (for Mim's dress) and Alpana Neeraj (for Liv's dress). By far, this duo had to be our favorite fashionistas on the red carpet. Not only can they party like DJ goddesses, they look like it too!

We love Taylor Swift's old-school Hollywood glamour look. Taylor is dressed in Hervé Léger by Max Azria and it looks absolutely stunning on her tall, slim body. Despite the serial dater's reputation, we can't hate on how gorgeous she looks.

As opposed to Miley's painful-to-watch growing pains, Selena Gomez is doing it right in a revealing number that doesn't cross over to the trashy side of fashion. We love how she's growing up and how she wore this Atelier Versace piece from Versace's Fall 2013 Couture runway line (see here). Although she's still got her baby face, we see her blossoming into a grown woman with more morals than others her age (*coughmileycough*)

Whether you're Robert Thicke, David Beckham, or whoever, if you wear a vertical striped suit, you'll ALWAYS look like Beetlejuice. 'Nuff said.

Perhaps it's our obsession with the color mint, or just the broad liking of Macklemore and the lyrical, meaningful content of his music, but we love his minty suit. We also loved how he coordinated his tie to match his fur collar...and Ryan Lewis' outfit. Love it!

Will Smith's kids have grown up so much! Makes us realize how old we've gotten. (Insert sad face here). Nonetheless, these spunky kids dressed casually with a touch of mad swag, which they probably got from their father. Willow Smith is dressed in G-Star overalls, and Jaden in Alexander Wang.

So what did you think of the VMAs? Or better question, what do you really think of Miley's transformation? Love it? Hate it? Leave it in the comments below!

And as always,
thanks for stopping by!!
