Have you ever had the problem of pigeon-holing certain clothes solely as being either daytime or nighttime attire? Well, we're here to show you that you can transform any piece of clothing to be daytime AND nighttime appropriate. How? By simply changing up the overall feel of the outfit and its accessories! We have created yet another style guide to help you invision how you can transform a dress like Kaii's very one
All-Over Crochet Lurex Dresses to be suitable for both day and night. This dress--like many of the dresses you have in your own closet--can easily be categorized as a "night out" type of dress. However, the silvery metallic element of lurex fabric makes this dress even more admissible for daytime. After all, how else would you be able to see its shiny glittery-ness without the sunlight? Read through the ideas behind each ensamble for tips on how you can transform your clothes to go from day to night.
As Daytime...:
To create a fun daytime look, we've mixed metals for this outfit. Just because the dress is silver does not mean that you have to stick with only silver accessories. So to this dress, we added rose gold accessories to give it a flirty, girly vibe. By adding navy blue into the mix, we've created a different color profile that helps balance the nudey-pinky-ness of the outfit and brings the brightness to a good medium level. Topped off with a cute bowler hat and pinkish hued sunglasses, this outfit is perfect for a summery day out in the city.
Pink too girly for you? How about this hommage to the Queen? Alexander McQueen, that is. Along with the designer's home emblem clutch bag, which also has a nude pink to its color palatte, we've dressed this black lurex dress with rose gold. We kept the accessories fairly simple with a Versace watch in black and rose gold, along with a simple armparty pack from ASOS. The multi buckle heels create an edgier vibe to this outfit, which goes hand-in-hand with the spikey armparty. With only one big bold black and rose gold ring and geometric earrings, the focus goes to the intricate crochet details of the dress, which fits oh-so perfectly on any body shape. Due to the elaborate pattern of the dress, we kept the neck simple with a flowerball necklace from Folli Follie. Topped off with a bee keeper hat and oval sunnies from Topshop, you can wear this on any chic afternoon and even continue it on through the night.
...Transforms into Nighttime:
For our daytime outfits, we paired this dress with all rose gold, but now we pair it with silver. Silver is like a blank canvas. To take advantage of it, we color blocked this outfit with brilliant purple heels and bag. These strappy Giuseppe Zannoti heels would not only make your legs look sexy, but also add a great pop of color that'll be sure to make you stand out from the crowd (literally). To add a different dimension to the ensamble, we added a subtle minty teal color into the mix with a fabulous armparty. As we have stated countless times before, the key to a successful outfit is balance. Balance your bracelets by keeping one wrist simple with a chunky bracelet like the Onda Bracelet II. Then stack your other wrists with a mixture of colors and metals (as shown above). We also kept the necklace and ring simple once again to avoid distracting attention away from the dress and accessories. Finish off the look with a purple hued lipstick to bring it all together.
Okay, so can you tell we're obsessed with Alexander McQueen? Well, we couldn't help it! These honeycomb strappy sandals from A McQueen was too perfect to resist. The honeycomb detail of the heels are perfect for this black crochet dress because of both of their labyrinthine designs. To add color, we added gold and red. Instead of wearing bracelets, we chose to do an armcuff, which is great for a night out because they stay in place and add a touch of glamour that many people don't see everyday. Since the wrists are kept bare, we suggest dressing up your fingers with...yes, you guessed it, a ringparty!! We chose a variety of gold, black, and red rings that you can stack and swap onto each finger. For the bigger bulkier rings, we sugest placing those separately, one on each hand (preferably the middle or index finger) and filling the void of the other naked fingers with these stackable rings from Losselliani. Finishing this look off are a bold red lipstain from YSL and a red fold over clutch from Clare Vivier.
So there it is! One dress, in two colors, resulting in four looks that are as different as night and day.
This dress is so versatile and intricate, it's no wonder that it was one of our top sellers at the WWD Magic Show in Las Vegas back in February!
